While every effort is made to present the sarees in their natural colours, subtle variations between images and actual colours may be the result of lighting conditions and digital photography, and the colour/screen settings of your digital devices.
Slight irregularities are inherent to the process of creating traditional handwoven fabric. Instead of taking away from the beauty of the saree, they enhance its uniqueness and charm. The irregularities attest to the fact that the saree is a genuine, handcrafted product.

Chettinad cotton sarees, also known as Kandaangi sarees, are primarily woven by Devanga Chettiars, a community of weavers practicing this art since ancient times. The saree gets its name from the Chettinad region in the Sivaganga district of Tamil Nadu. A cluster of 96 small villages in the Sivaganga district cumulatively comprise the Chettinad region, which is quite well-known for its cuisine of the same name. Culture and traditional are essential parts of the Chettinad identity. The people are known for their lavish lifestyle, flamboyance and jewellery.
In this region, sarees are an intrinsic part of nearly all occasions, including births, celebrations and festivals; they are also frequently given as gifts. Usually handwoven with thick cotton on pit looms/raised pit looms using the fly shuttle weaving technique, Chettinad sarees are not translucent. The lightweight cotton fabric makes it ideal for wearing in hot and humid weather. Chettinad sarees are known for their prominent colours which are the result of a skillful amalgamation of broad stripes, bold checks and contrasting colours. Kandaangi sarees continue being popular, even among teens and younger women, due to their versatility and ethnic look.
